As the Guest Editor of the Special Issue: Midwifery Education I am pleased to present
two letters to the editor that we received in response to the guest editorial in that
issue written by Ms Ann Kinnear, the Chief Executive Officer of the Australian College
of Midwives.

I value the professional debate and encourage others to voice their opinions about
such important matters. As you can see there are diverse perspectives on the award
of dual degrees. I encourage readers to re-read the initial editorial and other papers
that also address the issue of the quality of educational programs that prepare the
midwives of tomorrow, particularly Leap et al.;
